| The Wonder of the Swingarm Inserter, When The First Inserting & Mailing
Machine was offered for sale in September, 1925, it
filled a long felt need. Put simply, this was the need
for an easier, faster and less expensive method of
handling costly mailing preparation. A number of
pieces of equipment previously had been placed on the
market. Some had done one part of the job and some
another. But no machine yet had been built to perform
all the intricate mailing operations-including the
difficult task of picking up and inserting multiple
enclosures of different sizes in a single envelope. And
since the time of the first inserter the only true
difference is the V-block detection to Gripper-arm
detection of present day and a cam box was added to
create faster insertion speed along with updated
electrical components. But it is still the same basic mechanical
machine that was designed 81 years ago and still used
today in many shops across the country and around
the world. |
